Dreaming of escape to a simpler life...

There are days, as the summer fades into autumn and I sit at my desk after a long week-end, that I dream of escape.

I don't want much really... a peaceful view of the water, sunshine on my shoulders, sand between my toes, a pile of books, a few pens, brushes and an empty notebook... and a caravan in which to make up a mug of hot chocolate in the cooler evenings and curl up each night.

This little beauty is an Airstream Bambi, and you can buy one here. At $51,000 it's a bit out of my price range (and I think that might even be US dollars), so I'll just have to keep dreaming.

Hello my darling Cinta: the best thing about some dreams is that they can come true.

My Grandmother had a little wooden caravan that she claimed had once belonged to Slim Dusty. I'm certain it was a tall tale, but it did add a certain mystique to a very cute little travel abode. I wish it was still in the family - a seaside escape in it would be just the thing!

Sounds like a great idea- as long as there are bathroom facilities near by! I have a friend who found an old, old run down caravan similar shape to thet one. she spent quite a bit of time scrubbing and sanding and painting she put in some cheap black and white lino and some curtains and cushions in lovely fabric. Alot of hard work but now she has a lovely mobile home to park on her bush block while they build their stone house and it will be used for visitors after that.

You can always look for an old VISCONT van, Silver in colour, retro type. Be quick they seem to be coming back into fashion. People tried to give these away but soon fond out they are very sterdy little vans!!!!!!
