101 things about me

This is the space in which I create...

This is my desk at home. It is the place where I do much of my creative work when I'm not at school. There are a few creations in view - a couple complete and many more ready to begin. Each item in the pigeon holes is intended to inspire. From calligraphy inks to juggling balls, mind puzzles to beads and japanese brushes... It's quite a mix. Of course there is jar full of pens and brushes and a number of books, blank paper and photos on my desk close at hand.

The camera is my Dads. I used it recently for some photography as I wanted the transparencies which are larger than normal (6 x 6). It takes great shots, and has a three or four step process before you can flick the button to take the shot. It's certainly not as instant as digital, but the results are pretty amazing.

So, the area in which I create is small, but as long as I keep it relatively tidy it is a pleasant place to work. When I need more space, the kitchen table is my next option.

The subject for this weeks "This is..." was bought to you by Michelle from Quilting Mick. The "This is..." meme was created by the magical Angela of Three Buttons fame.

That's a gorgeous space. I love your desk, and the colour of the walls. I really love the herb photos too. I am really loving bay trees at the moment. When you strip off the leaves and let the twig dry out, you are left with the most amazing shapes with the curving twigs and bobbly flower buds.

I love those pigeon holes. I've been searching for something like that for ages but they're always way too expensive.
It looks like such a lovely space to create in.

What a cosy space. I love the pigeon holes and the wall colour - I've heard that green is the most creative colour!

I was checking this photo out on Flickr - it's a great space and I love the pidgen holes.

Great camera, I really miss using a 6x6. There's something magical about taking photos with them, something about the way they make you slow down.

What an inspiring space!

Your photo is so beautiful that I want to sit down right now.

I have a vintage camera too, but have not used it.

Yes, the pigeon holes are so cool! I also love the colour of the wall, and that the map matches :)

Hey, how do you find the new iMac? I was just talking yesterday about updating mine (I have the model before yours, the white one)... I was thinking of upgrading so I don't get stuck with an old machine. I'm just not sure if I'd like the glossy screen, is it good? Does it bother you at all? And what about that tiny flat keyboard?

sorry, I meant to say the "lamp" matches, not the map???????

That is a beautiful space to work. The green walls are gorgeous. We have green in our bedroom and I thought I would get sick of it but 4 years later I'm still loving it. The owl in the pigeon hole is gorgeous too and the print on the wall is very sweet! Looks very cosy :)

The owl in the pigeonhole caught my attention. What a cosy space to have for working and so neat too.

Thanks all for your lovely comments - and I have enjoyed visiting your blogs too and seeing your creative spaces...

A few replies/comments to questions about my space...

I love the green in my room too, it works well with all the timber (windows, doors etc) and am happy to hear it is meant to be a creative colour!

And the pigeon holes are a favourite too. I bought them at auction a while ago and they fit perfectly in my limited space.

I am loving having my Dads camera and will probably give it another 'run' before returning it.

I bought the owl from "Meet me at mikes (http://meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com/)" when they were still in Bridge road... it is a KWOOZY (http://kwoozy.blogspot.com/) creation...

And last but not least - my mac. I love it. Took nearly 2 years to convince myself to upgrade and I have never looked back. The screen is big, bright and slimline and the keyboard is fine (I like that it is flat - no different from working on my previous laptop really.

Thanks for your comments everyone. Great theme this week!

your creative space difinately looks inspiring but most of all there is a sense of calm - i think that must really help get the creativity flowing.

I like your little cubbies (or I uess pigeon holes to you), they really show off your collection. And that Mac...my mom has the same computer and everytime I go over to her place I'm sorely tempted to steal it. Is that a picture of you on the stack of books? Very cute.

It looks lovely - I am jealous of your beautiful wooden table - I had to leave my hardwood table behind.
Is it always that neat? As much as I loved my table, I could rarely ever see it for all the stuff on it!
Thanks for sharing!
Louise.

Hmmm, is it always this neat? YES! And it drives me nuts... How can someone with such a wonderful, creative mind be so neat???
A wider shot of the room would show my very "un-neat" desk which, as it turns out, drives Cinta nuts!!!

This space looks great! How do you find working with your imac?

Ah the kitchen table, a space for many a great creation. Even though I have been looking forward to having a designated space to work (...hide my mess) I often like the warmth and sense of comfort that comes from working at the kitchen table.
Your space looks great- mine still looks like a patio enclosure just yet.

Omigosh..you are so organized. I feel such a slob looking at your space, and MY Mac hangs its head in shame. (But boy do I love this Mac..coming from a Mini.)

You're an inspiration!
