I found this on FLICKR today here Does anyone know if this is OK re use of photos viewable to the public on FLICKR? As long as I give credit to where I found it... is this OK?
The reason people put their images up is for recognition and the enjoyment of others.
The problem is when someone uses the image and claims credit. Flickr does nothing to stop this apparently whereas you cannot copy my images from RedBubble.
Give credit and reference to the original and there shouldn't be a problem...
I would think it's fine- at least I see it happen everywhere... just think of all the mosaics. It's just a matter of giving credit, IMO - and I think there is a difference between an image on Flickr and an image on a blog. For an image from a blog, I would be more inclined to ask, or at the very least link and acknowledge that it's theirs.
Don't they have a 'creative commons' section which are free for people to use????? I think they have a section on Flickr blog/info page about all that. I vaguely remember seeing something related to that somewhere. Unfortunately I didn't retain much of what I read- one of those very, very late sleepless net exploring evenings.
This little guy is so cute! I just wanna cuddle it!
As far as using images, I often wonder this too but I think as long as you link back to them and give credit i cant see why anyone would have a problem? Is it getting people's work recognised after all?
I think it's ok as long as you give them credit. I usually comment on their photo on Flickr as well with the link to the post just to let them know and would of course happily take it down if they don't want it there.
Very cute pic. I do not use other people's pics anymore as I once did a collage with all credits linked - one photogrspher was upset and tokld me how dare I use his photo without permission and to take it off my favourite's - I thought it was flattery that I used his photo as it was georgeos and I was giving him people traffic but I guess it was his right. So for me I avoid it - there are many who do it often and have no trouble - or problems.

Such a beautiful photo-I think they are fine to use as long as you acknowledge where it is from.
