Yes - It's hot.
Yesterday it reached 45 degrees as I drove home from work and overnight the mercury didn't drop below 28 in Melbourne. Yikes!
I love the summer, but these hot hot days? Well, it IS a little too hot, even for my liking.
But I refuse to complain. I can't help but complain when it's cold (I REALLY hate being cold), but being hot? Well, it's better than being cold!
It seems everyone is complaining. Power cuts, transportation woes (200 train cancellations yesterday) and impatient drivers. Worst of all (and worthy of worry) the threat of bushfires sit heavily in the air.
And whilst everyone is moaning about lack of sleep and melting ice-cream, my frangipani is LOVING it. It is enjoying a spurt of growth and is full of green leaves. At the moment it is spending all of it's energy on leaves and stretching it's branches. If only it would flower!

Being Australian...
The weather has at last turned to summer. The front and back doors are both open, and a fan circulates the air inside my flat. My flat is warm after a few consecutive days of heat and I am enjoying the balmy evening. It is Friday night and the week-end stretches ahead. Three full days... Monday is a public holiday. Australia Day. And so it seems a perfect opportunity to share a list I was emailed some time ago, about being 'straylian'. (That's 'Australian' for anyone who needs an interpretation!)
You know you're Australian if.....
1. You know the meaning of the word 'girt'.
2. You believe that stubbies can be either drunk or worn.
3. You think it's normal to have a Prime Minister called Kevin.
4. You waddle when you walk due to the 53 expired petrol discount vouchers stuffed in your wallet or purse.
5. You've made a bong out of your garden hose rather than use it for something illegal such as watering the garden.
6. You believe it is appropriate to put a rubber in your son's pencil case when he first attends school.
7. When you hear that an American 'roots for his team' you wonder how often and with whom.
8. You understand that the phrase 'a group of women wearing black thongs' refers to footwear and may be less alluring than it sounds.

What makes 100 percent?
This is a strictly mathematical viewpoint...it goes like this:
What Makes 100%? What does it mean to give MORE than 100%? Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been to those meetings where someone wants you to give over 100%. How about achieving 103%? What makes up 100% in life?
Here's a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions:

Musical challenge...
Its a musical challenge... find as many different groups/individuals in this image as you can (click on the image for a larger view). I can't remember the total amount, but there are certainly more than 50. Guns and Roses, Mathcbox 20, Queen and the Rolling Stones are all there. How many can you see? Some are easy, many more are a little more problematic.
Once you start, you'll be hooked. Friends will be intrigued. It's good fun. Let me know how you go... How many did you find?
